Spirit 54’ Soufrière achieved lasting fame when she was built for Daniel Craig and Eva Green in the famous James Bond film Casino Royale in 2005.  Following her movie début and ten subsequent years of cruising and competitive racing, it was time to give Soufrière a makeover.

During her time in the Spirit yard in Ipswich, Suffolk, Soufrière has been given a fresh coat of paint and had her cap rail repaired where racing wear and tear had taken its toll.  The highly skilled finishing team at Spirit has beautifully varnished the restored cap rail, which is now ready for any future racing.  To finalise her renovation work, Soufrière will come into the shed for a full re-varnish later in the year.

Spirit CEO and head designer Sean McMillan comments, “Soufrière is not only a stunning, UK built, modern classic yacht, she is also a part of British film history.  With her proven racing pedigree and extra space down below, Soufrière is ideal for an owner looking for an elegant performance cruising yacht with true British style.”

Currently for sale through Spirit Yachts’ brokerage, Spirit 54’ Soufrière is designed for an owner looking for a balance of performance racing and relaxed, comfortable leisure sailing.  The elegant design of this modern classic yacht shares many of the characteristics of the Spirit 52’ but benefits from a full double owner’s cabin forward as well as a double cabin aft, both of which have en-suite facilities.

Sporting a slightly larger and more powerful rig than the Spirit 52’, Soufrière excels on longer passages and in regatta racing. With an impressive light displacement of just over eight tonnes, Soufrière has an extraordinary power to weight ratio, but still has all the space and capacity required for cruising.  Following an already extremely successful classic racing history, Soufrière placed second in Class 1 Modern Classics, won the ladies race and took line honours in the Round the Island race at this year’s British Classic Yacht Club Panerai regatta.
