The build of Spirit Yachts’ first ever yawl, the Spirit 63’ Deckhouse (or DH63), is well underway in Spirit’s waterfront yard in Ipswich, Suffolk.
When we last reported on the build, the ringframes were about to be placed into a strongback. With the hull now completed and rolled over, the DH63 is undergoing interior fit out and her coachroof is being built.
The deckhouse design of the DH63 incorporates a raised coachroof, which provides invaluable protection from sun and sea spray. A navigation table situated in the deckhouse allows the navigator to view the chart and the horizon with ease; portholes in every panel of the coachroof enable full 360degree visibility. Also incorporated within the deckhouse is a sofa arrangement with port and starboard bunks for use during long distance passages.
Set to launch in autumn 2017, the DH63 will be bound for the warm waters of the Caribbean and a winter season of island cruising.
