P50 Coupé | Sketch | Spirit Yachts

Spirit Yachts Lead Designer, Tom Smith: “The P50 design began with why? We focused on the end user and the purpose of the yacht, which we defined as uncompromised happiness. The entire layout of the P50 Coupé is focused on the guest experience, with a balance of indoor and outdoor relaxation areas to suit variable climates. The luxurious, deck-level saloon offers 360 degree views from the comfort of a warm and calm space for relaxing, socialising, and dining.

“The design DNA of the Spirit P50 Coupé and her sistership, the P50 Sport, is a striking blend of elegant, traditional lines and bold, sophisticated graphics. Throughout the design process there was a desire to create something new whilst holding on to Spirit Yachts’ heritage and values.

“The exterior design started with the profile, sketching multiple forms to find the correct proportions that worked with the defined layout. The cap rail is the defining line of any Spirit yacht and the P50 is no exception, with a graceful falling waistline starting with the elegant plumb bow and ending with the reverse transom. This design subtly echoes yachts of the past whilst the elegant curve of the transom quickly cuts into a modern, dynamic form that wraps the swim platform. This theme of tradition and modernity harmoniously meeting runs throughout the design.

“On the P50 Coupé, the structural pillar is blended with the cap rail using a bold light-catching surface. This dynamic 3-dimensional form creates the clear graphic that blends the roof into the hull whilst adding a muscular haunch to the aft third of the yacht. It’s a powerful visual statement that gives purpose to the yacht’s profile.”
