The inaugural Spirit Yachts regatta will be held on the beautiful island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands. Designed to offer a balance of competitive racing and relaxed socialising, as well as opportunities to explore the surrounding area, the regatta is set to be a fantastic week on and off the water.
Based at Guernsey Yacht Club, with views of the Little Russell channel, Castle Cornet and Havelet Bay, the regatta will take place in the heart of St. Peter Port.
Racing promises to be competitive with yachts battling it out over a six-race series; including a round Guernsey race, a passage race and shorter round-the-cans courses. As much as possible, the starts and finishes will be set in front of Castle Cornet to allow spectators to watch the action on the water.
The Spirit Yachts fleet will be berthed in the heart of St Peter Port marina, a short walk from nearby shops, cafés, bars and restaurants.
The social scene ashore is set to be as lively as the racing, with a mix of casual and more formal events.
The week kicks off with a welcome drinks reception hosted by Locate Guernsey at Candie Gardens. Once part of a private estate, the restored Victorian Candie Gardens offer spectacular views across St Peter Port harbour and the islands of Herm, Sark and Jethou.
During the week, guests will have the choice of a yacht club BBQ, Hattiers Rum tasting, dockside drinks and a trip across to neighbouring Herm for sunset drinks and dinner. A celebratory prize-giving dinner at the prestigious Old Government House hotel will round off the regatta in style.
